I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running/rowing/ski-erg/assault bike 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

With my Sister the lead midwife for Bereavement at her hospital and friends that are amazingly committed midwives up and down the UK, I understand first hand the pivotal support that Sands provides during the darkest times for families that should really be filled with the greatest joy.

Having experienced the joy of a son being born early 2025, I could not imagine the worst cases that so many people experience every day and even just the smallest of donations will go a long way in supporting Sands and the great work they do!

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

Why am I doing this challenge?

Sunday 11th Jan
Charlotte (my Fianceè) and I were fortunate enough to have a very healthy, happy and currently very active Baby in Apr 25.

I cannot even contemplate the effect on parents that go through the loss of a baby, regardless of what stage of pregnancy or soon after birth that their loss could occur.

My sister is heavily involved within this field as the lead bereavement midwife within Warwickshire NHS Trust and the support that Sands provides as well as being able to source equipment that can lengthen the time that a family can have with their little one. To be able to make memories and simply share those moments that most are able to experience so soon after birth like any other family before having to start of the unthinkable arrangements required.

If the money that anyone can donate can help to just support families, either immediately after, or as time passes and the dealing with the bereavement and grief continues, then I truly appreciate every penny that anyone can spare.
