I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

Anyone who knows me knows exercise is not really my thing. But I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today, and most especially in memory of my middle baby Christian David Taylor, born asleep 23 August 2008, and my lovely friend Emma’s baby, Ruby Victoria Turner. 

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Happy to report that, having walked 27k this week, I am well in track to achieving my 100k by the end of the month. Today I re-did last Sunday’s route and picked some blackberries - and as a bonus, someone was giving free cooking apples too. This just calls for an apple and blackberry crumble! A little treat for completing the first week of my challenge. 😊

Day 1!

Sunday 1st Sep
Wow, a warm day for a walk. Started nice and slow as I’m nursing the most annoying cough - and the broken sleep that comes with it. 2.5km done. 
Highlight of today’s walk - stopping (too) often to eat blackberries! Must remember to bring a bowl next time I do this route - apple and blackberry crumble season is here! 🌹💙
