I’m swimming 100km November for families facing baby loss

On 28th March this year our very good friends Amy and Craig experienced the devastating loss of their son James, who was stillborn.

The agony of losing your baby is something I can only imagine and I know that what I imagine is still not even close to what Amy and Craig battle through each day, they are truly amazing.

The 15th October marks the end of baby loss awareness loss week, a time to remember those babies lost too soon and to raise awareness of the shattering impact of baby loss. Sands are a non-profit charity who support bereaved families like our friends, and we have seen first hand the incredible work they do.

Anna pointed out that Sands were doing a swim challenge in November to raise awareness and a bit of cash for the charity and I really wanted to do something to help out.

They suggested swimming 2k,  5k or 10k across the month but I thought, 'sod that, let's go crazy and stick another zero on there! So throughout November I've committed to swimming 100km. That's like swimming to Leeds down the Leeds-Liverpool canal only I'll be doing in a pool, thankfully. It means I'll be spending about 4 hours a day in the pool swimming to break it down. It's a lot, like.

If you're able to, I'd be thrilled if you can give this incredible charity a bit of money. If you can't afford to, a share of this post would be amazing, let's go big at the end of Baby Loss Awareness week.

So this one's for you,  James.

Thanks for reading
