Running for Theo
This run isn’t about chasing a time or ticking off a distance. It’s about love, loss, and remembering my baby boy, Theo.
On the 10th of December, at 7:18pm, Our beautiful son Theodore Mitchell King entered this world earlier than expected, At 9:52pm he gained his wings.
In that short time, Theodore changed everything.
He made me a mummy.
He filled my heart with a love so deep it will last a lifetime and beyond.
Theo, my precious boy, you were so small, yet you carried the biggest purpose. You fought hard, bravely, and with a strength far greater than your tiny body. You may not have stayed long, but you tried!
I was told something that shattered me and healed me at the same time. If Theodore had made it to full term, I would not have survived giving birth due to a rare placenta defect. Somehow, my sweet boy knew. He knew what he had to do to save my life. In ways I will never fully understand, my son became my guardian, my protector, my hero.
Little did he know that in saving my life, he gave my life a new meaning.
Theo, you saved your mummy.
Losing Theo changed my life in ways I never imagined. No words truly capture the pain of losing a child, the shock, the heartbreak, the silence that follows. One moment you’re dreaming of a future that should be full of firsts, and the next you’re learning how to survive without them. Theo will always be my son, and he will always be loved, even though I don’t get to hold him the way I should.
Sands, the baby loss charity, supports anyone affected by the death of a baby. They provide vital emotional support, offer a safe space for parents to talk, remember, and grieve, and work tirelessly to improve care and save babies’ lives in the future. Knowing that support like this exists makes an unbearable journey feel a little less lonely.
I’m running for Sands because no parent should ever feel alone after losing their baby. I’m running to honour Theo’s life, however short it was, and to say his name proudly. I’m running for the parents who are grieving right now, for those who will face this heartbreak in the future, and for the babies who should still be here.
Every step I take will be for Theo. When it gets hard, I’ll think of him. When my legs ache and my breath is heavy, I’ll remember why I started. This run is a small thing compared to the loss of a child, but if it helps raise awareness, funds, or support for even one family, then it matters.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, shared kind words, or simply remembered Theo with me. Your support means more than you’ll ever know.
This is for you, my beautiful boy.
Always loved. Always remembered.

I’m so, so proud of you. Running 2km every single day in the harshest conditions while grieving your beautiful baby Theodore takes an unbelievable amount of strength, resilience, and courage. You inspire me more than words can say, and your determination is a testament to the incredible person and mother you are. Theodore was so lucky to have you as his mummy, and I know how deeply he is loved and always will be.
