I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Ada's birthday

A very special day for a very special girl! 
Today, Ada turned 2. I've been particularly emotional this year because, Ada is our fairy - our rainbow. 

With taking on this challenge, the lovely social media algorithms have been amped up to 11 with baby loss content and it's a hard watch. 
Not to mention that every step I take when I'm running I'm thinking about the two littles who aren't with us.
It's a lot to manage when I'm still all the other things to all the other people. 

It's also a little bittersweet, because whilst the losses were the most taxing and crushing period of my life,  Ada wouldn't be here if they hadn't happened. And she is the most precious, wild, crazy, loving, delightful little two year old! We're incredibly lucky when I know so many others are still waiting to hold their baby in their arms. 
I suppose, what I'm trying to say is it's tough to love someone so much, so completely and know that had we not experienced that loss we would not have this amazing human being to be mummy and daddy to.

Emily, our eldest wants to join me on a run at some point. She was 4 when we went through the loss and she has this wonderful, compassionate way of understanding why I'm doing this. She is a huge support and the best big sister and I owe that little girl so much for getting me through the tough times and continuing to do so.

5km in the bank!

Managed to knock out 3km yesterday with my gorgeous sister Kaitlin! Logged that one on Strava - badly - I'm still trying to work out how to use it. 
Now on day 2, managed to get my 2km on a treadmill... really hope it's not cheating! The route I had planned is so poorly lit where I live I need to order some lights or invest in workout clothes which aren't black.
Already passed the initial target and completely overjoyed to have done so, you guys are incredible. Keep the donations coming! 

It all starts tomorrow!

I'm not a runner.
I don't know how to fit it in everyday.
But as we say in this house "Nothing worth doing is ever easy". It wouldn't be a challenge if it was!
