I’m running 2k a day in January for Sands
Anyone that knows me knows I do not run, not unless I hear a Prosecco cork popping or there’s a sale on in Zara!
I have however, along with many other people I know and love, experienced the devastating heartache of pregnancy / baby loss.
To kick off 2026 I’ve committed to running 2k a day, every single day of January to raise money for Sands.
Sands is the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity.
Every day in the UK, 13 babies die shortly before, during or soon after birth and at least 1 in 6 pregnancies end in miscarriage.
Too often, the reasons for pregnancy and baby losses are not fully understood, and this lack of understanding makes it harder to prevent future tragedies. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Sands helps answer the most important research questions and acts on these findings. Listening to parents helps save lives and Sands puts bereaved parents' experiences at the heart of research. These experiences help academics and clinicians understand why babies die and how maternity care can be improved.
Sands work to keep pregnancy and baby loss at the top of the political agenda across the UK. By gaining the support and understanding of politicians, ministers and decision-makers, they can help them make better policies to improve maternity services and save babies’ lives.
Sands also ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times.
