I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

Running is definitely not something I am good at however on Saturday 1th October I will be pushing myself  out of my comfort zone taking part in this years Sands 5K Ribbon Run as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week which runs from  9-15 October.

In 2017 my world as I knew it was turned upside down. My first pregnancy had ended due to a heart breaking miscarriage and when I found I was a pregnant for a 2nd time I was full of excitement but also nervousness. Going in for my 1st scan all I wanted to see was the heartbeat of my much longed for Rainbow baby, however during the scan we were told that there was a concerning amount of fluid around the babies neck and  further tests would be needed to establish what this could mean.  It was an agonising time of hoping and praying but 3 weeks later we were given the devastating news that our precious, much longed for baby had been diagnosed with Trisomy 18, commonly known as Edwards Syndrome. Our beautiful baby girl Ava Rose was born sleeping at 15 weeks.

In the years that have followed I suffered multiple miscarriages but never wanted to give up on my journey into motherhood and am now  so lucky to have delivered 2 healthy beautiful girls Polly Ava  and Lily Iris.

Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support.

By sponsoring me, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.

£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.
