I’m hosting a Starlight Walk for Sands as I want to help those affected by the loss of a baby to find the light in the dark. Every day 13 babies die before, during or shortly after birth. I am raising funds to help Sands continue to build a world where more babies survive, and more families receive the happy ending they deserve.

Starlight Walk is a sponsored walk where hundreds of people come together to walk under the stars to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. In memory of our beautiful Avery
Thursday 23rd OctOur walk this year is in loving memory of Avery, who was born on 13th July 2021 and heartbreakingly passed away on 18th December 2021.
Avery filled our hearts with so much love and joy in her short time with us. Every smile, every sound, every little moment will stay in our hearts forever. Losing Avery to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) changed our world completely — a pain no parent or relative should ever have to face.
It was absolutely devastating to get that call on 18th December. The grief hit so hard and so suddenly that I couldn’t breathe. In that moment, everything stopped — and life was never the same again. No one should ever have to go through that alone or without support.
That’s why we’re taking part in this walk for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) — a charity that helps families through the darkest days imaginable. SANDS offers a lifeline when everything feels impossible: someone to talk to who truly understands, counselling, support groups, and guidance for families learning how to live with loss. They also fund vital research and work tirelessly to help prevent more babies from dying.
We’re still in the process of organising our own Starlight Walk route, but we’d love for it to take place near Abbey Lane Cemetery, where Avery’s remembrance was held. It’s a peaceful and special place for us — and walking there under the stars feels like a way to be close to her once again.
Our goal is to raise £200 (and hopefully more!) to help SANDS continue their incredible work — supporting families, driving awareness, and striving for a future where fewer parents have to experience this heartbreak.
