I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Walking for Little Ones: Why I’m Supporting Sands This March

Saturday 21st Feb
March is a month of new beginnings, but for many families I meet in my work, it can also be a time of reflection.
Across the UK, many people take on charity walks this month, and while there are so many worthy causes, my heart—and my footsteps—are dedicated to Sands (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Charity).
Why Sands?
In my role at the hospital, I have the privilege of walking alongside families during their darkest hours, and if wanted, I am able to guide them through funeral services for their little ones (for miscarriages). I see firsthand the devastating impact of losing a baby, but I also see the light that charities like Sands provide, whilst helping them create lasting memories.
Sands do not just support parents and families; they are a backbone for healthcare trusts. They provide the training and tools that allow us to offer the highest standard of bereavement care. Sands ensure professionals have the skills to lead with compassion.
More Than Just Support: Saving Lives
What many people do not realise is that Sands is also at the heart of vital research. By listening to the lived experiences of bereaved parents, they help researchers understand why babies die. This work directly improves maternity care across the country, with the ultimate goal of saving babies' lives and ensuring fewer families have to experience this heartbreak.
My Personal Mission
My work allows me to support these families in very practical ways - from memory-making to signposting them to the incredible resources Sands offers. This March, I want to do a little more. By walking and raising funds, I am helping to ensure that:
Families never have to grieve alone.
Healthcare trusts have access to gold-standard National Bereavement Care Pathway training.
Research continues to make pregnancy and birth safer for everyone.
How You Can Help
Every step I take is in memory of the precious babies& families I’ve had the honour of caring for. If you are able to donate, please know that your contribution goes directly toward supporting families and funding life-saving research.

Thank you for your kindness and for helping me support such an amazing cause. 🧡
