I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

Hi!

Monday 1st Sep
Hi! This September, I have decided to participate in the Walk 100km for Sands Charity.

Maternity leave has been really hard for me, I've been incredibly lonely at times, and as a result not really wanted to leave my house. My fitness just isn't what it used to be and finding the time to exercise while looking after a baby just hasn't been easy (massive shout out to the mum's who manage it, not all heroes wear capes!) So, when this came up as a suggestion on Instagram, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity... walk outside just as the weather turns biblical!

No but seriously, this charity has only really become known to me in the last year, after some friends of ours experienced the worst thing imaginable. Their loss affected me massively. I was 34 weeks pregnant at the time, and I feel I went through all the stages of grief on their behalf, as well as really struggling with survivor guilt. I cannot even begin to comprehend how they must have felt and must still be feeling.

So, Sands is the reason I will be making myself uncomfortable, because it is absolutely worth it for the work they do with grieving families.

I know winter is here, and therefore Christmas is just around the corner, but if anyone can find it in their hearts to donate a couple of quid, it would really mean a lot.

Thanks,
Amy x
