The final 5

Tuesday 27th Jan

The final 5 - I can’t believe it. I cannot thank everyone enough for all the donations and support this far. Doing the challenge and raising money and hopefully a bit of awareness for Sands has been such a fantastic drive every day to get out and stay active in what can only otherwise be described as a difficult depressing rainy January. Baby loss isn’t something that has affected me personally but has affected people I love so every day even when my head hasn’t been in it my heart has and knowing this money can go towards helping people makes every step worth it. 4 more to go! Sands 2K a day in January 🫶🏼

Update

Sunday 18th Jan

Running so far has been challenging but really rewarding.

And selfishly, I'm getting a lot out of it myself. But knowing that I am raising money for a charity that does such wonderful things is just a really fulfilling feeling.

So if you haven't already, or if you might be considering it, please do donate. I'm going to keep running every single day until the end of the month. And posting about it to keep myself accountable.

And like I said at the start you never know who can be affected by this issue so do it for someone you don't know in the hopes they would do the same for you c thanks X

Update

Sunday 18th Jan

So, seeing as I've just gone over the halfway point, I thought l'd do a little message just to reiterate why I'm doing this.

Over the last year, my mental health hasn't just been in the bin - it's been maybe at the bottom of a landfill, or floating on the island made of garbage somewhere in the middle of the ocean, and whilst 've been working hard to get myself feeling better (and I definitely am starting to feel a lot better) I am lucky enough to have had great support from my wonderful family and incredible friends.

Some of those friends are people who have suffered through the world-shattering experience of baby loss, and they've still shown up for me in ways I can't thank them enough for. I wishI could run and raise money for charities that support causes that affect all of my friends, but this was just a challenge that appeared in front of me at the right time.

I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

Sunday 18th Jan

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Disclaimer

Sunday 21st Dec
I never have been, never tried to be and have no plans to attempt to get pregnant!

However, the reality of baby loss and the effect it has on the people it does impact is something I don’t think enough people appreciate until it affects someone you love — I certainly didn’t. The fact this is true for so many people is heartbreaking and needs to change - so if it takes me running 2K a day for a month to raise awareness and maybe a little bit of money for one of the only charities helping those people - then here we go kids. Even if you don’t like me I’m so out of shape just enjoy my suffering of doing a small amount of exercise whilst donating.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from watching my incredibly strong inspiring friends go through such world shattering experiences - you absolutely never know if this charity might be something that you or someone you love might need one day. And I sincerely hope you don’t - but for now let’s just do what we can.
