In memory of Eden
Monday 20th Jul In 2024, our family experienced the unimaginable heartbreak of baby loss. We had fallen pregnant unexpectedly and were filled with excitement, especially my daughter, Orla, who couldn't wait to be a big sister again. Sadly, our routine 14-week scan revealed serious complications: our baby had a cystic hygroma that was preventing her vital organs from developing. Two weeks later, her condition worsened into heart failure. Faced with an impossible reality, we had to make the devastating choice to intervene.Through a Termination for Medical Reasons (TFMR), I delivered our baby on 22nd June 2024. A post-mortem later revealed we had lost a beautiful baby girl, whom we named Eden Roux. We said our final goodbye at her funeral that August. The weight of our grief was at times unbearable, but Sands was our lifeline. They guided us through the medical complexities, supported our agonizing decisions, provided counselling, and gave our young children the resources they needed to process their grief.
