I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

SANDS- Your feelings matter

Friday 28th Feb
Today, I want to talk about something deeply personal, something that touches the heart of every individual who has experienced the unimaginable pain of losing a child—whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. This kind of grief is different. It is a grief that is difficult to explain, one that leaves us questioning, aching, and sometimes, feeling completely alone.

But I’m here to tell you that you are not alone. There are people who understand, who care, and who have dedicated their lives to supporting those who are walking this difficult path. One of the most powerful resources that exists in the face of such heartbreak is Sands.

Sands is a beacon of hope, providing bereavement support, guidance, and care for parents and families navigating the devastating loss of a baby. Sands is not just a charity; it’s a lifeline. It’s a community of kind-hearted professionals, volunteers, and fellow parents who are there to walk beside you in the darkest moments, offering their knowledge, their compassion, and their strength when you need it the most.

Losing a child is a grief that often feels beyond words. It’s an overwhelming, silent sorrow that can make us feel as though the world is spinning out of control. Sands offers a safe space where grief is acknowledged, and emotions are validated. It reminds you that your grief is not only normal but that it’s a process—a journey that is unique to you. There is no “right” way to grieve, but there are resources to help guide you through each step.

From one-on-one support to group counseling, Sands offers a variety of ways for you to connect with others who truly understand what you are going through. They provide guidance on the practical and emotional aspects of bereavement, offering a sense of understanding and comfort that can make all the difference. You don’t have to feel isolated or misunderstood.

But Sands is more than just a source of comfort in the early days of loss. They offer long-term support, walking with you through the ongoing journey of healing. Whether it's navigating anniversaries, birthdays, or the first moments when you start to feel the heavy weight of loss easing just slightly, Sands is there to support you at every turn.

To the parents and families who are grieving, I want you to hear this: you are not weak for grieving. You are not broken. Your heartache speaks of the love you had for your child and the connection you will always carry with them. Sands is here to remind you that, through this pain, you are not defined by your loss alone—you are defined by the love, resilience, and strength you carry.

Together, we can break the silence around baby loss. Together, we can ensure that no parent walks through this difficult time without support. Sands reminds us that there is always hope, even in the midst of grief. And when you feel lost, remember: Sands is here to help you find your way forward, offering both support and compassion, no matter where you are in your journey.

To the families who have lost, and to those who continue to grieve, remember this: your story matters, your grief matters, and your healing matters. Sands is here to make sure that you never have to face this journey alone.

Thank you.

I am sorry that you had to go through this experience. I know how painful it is. You are not alone in this pain. And I believe that fate will give you the opportunity to hold your own "rainbow baby", who will give you the happiness you seek. Sincerely.
