Walking 100k for SANDS – In Memory of Poppie
This September, our team is coming together to take on a meaningful challenge: walking 100,000k to raise money for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society).
SANDS is a charity that provides vital support for families coping with the heartbreak of baby loss. They not only offer a lifeline to parents and loved ones facing the unimaginable, but they also work tirelessly to improve bereavement care and fund crucial research to help save babies’ lives in the future.
This cause is incredibly close to our hearts. Earlier this year, our Director, Harriet, experienced the devastating loss of her daughter, Poppie, who was born sleeping at 21 weeks. In those darkest days, SANDS was there – offering compassion, understanding, and the kind of support that only those who truly understand baby loss can give.
Harriet’s journey, like that of so many families, shows how essential the work of SANDS is. They provide:
- Emotional support through helplines, online communities, and local support groups.
- Practical resources for families navigating grief, hospital stays, and memorials.
- Training for healthcare professionals so that families are met with sensitivity and care during the hardest moments of their lives.
- Research and advocacy to reduce baby deaths and ensure every life, no matter how brief, is honoured and remembered.
By donating, you are helping SANDS to continue this life-changing work – reaching more families, funding more research, and ensuring that no parent has to face loss alone.
Every step we take this September is for Poppie, and for all the babies gone too soon.
