Edinburgh ribbon run

Huge well done to everyone who braved the elements on today’s ribbon run. It was lovely to meet you all. Thanks for joining our run. 

Weather for saturday

Hope everyone is well and I’m looking forward to meeting you on Saturday. The weather forecast is looking wet at the moment. With this in mind please ensure to bring warm dry clothes with you for after the run. My husband will be at the start/finish so things can be left either him or even in my car if needed. If anyone needs anything just let me know. X

Cuppa and refuel after

If you would like to join us for a cuppa and refuel after the run please let me know and if anyone will be joining you. I need to give the ladies at butternut squash (the cafe) and idea for numbers. Thanks. Mhairi

The 10km route

I mapped out a 10km route yesterday which allows us to all start and finish at the same point. Feel free to adapt your own route during the run though. This is just an idea. 

Butternut squash

I’ve been in touch with the ladies from butternut squash and they have agreed that we can head there after the run (whether you are doing the 5km or 10km) for refreshments and refuel. If you would like to join us there please let me know and anyone who will be joining you. Just so I can provide them with some numbers. Thanks. X

This morning I plotted our 5km route for this years ribbon run. It’s nice and flat so perfect for all abilities.

Portobello Promenade,  Portobello, Edinburgh EH15 2DX

Meeting place: Outside Tumbles, West Bank street, Edinburgh, eh15 1dr

Time to meet: 9.45am

Ribbon Run Start time: 10am

We’re taking part in Sands Ribbon Run this Baby Loss Awareness Week 9-15 October.

Support us as we take on 5, 10 or 15km together in support of Sands, helping them to continue to build a world where more babies survive and more families receive the happy ending they deserve.

Ribbon Run is a sponsored run, walk or jog where thousands of people come together to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. It’s free to sign up and it’s up to you how you take part. You can run it, walk it, push it, or jog it; alone or with friends and family.

By sponsoring us, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.

£3 - could provide a Sands birth certificate for a baby whose birth cannot be registered through a register office.

£10 - could provide a bereaved family with a support pack and resources when they need it the most

£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.
