13 days of the challenge complete!

We’re now up to day 13 of the 2km a day challenge and as a team we’ve ran and walked over 300km! Through some very cold, rainy and snowy conditions we’ve all managed to get out and do our 2km a day.

We are so grateful for all the donations which has meant we have raised just over £1,500! This is something we are all really proud of and know how much this will help Sands with the amazing work they do for bereaving families 🤍

As we get into the second half of the month, we are looking forward to doing more 2km’s together and, hopefully, hitting our target of £2,500! £250 goal achieved! We’ve increased our target!

Wow! Thanks to your incredibly generous donations we have already reached our initial £250 target before even doing our first run 🎉🙌🏼

We’ve made the decision to TRIPLE this target in good faith that this will be achievable!! So our new fundraising goal is £750, though exceeding this would be a dream and make a huge difference to families facing baby loss.

STMWs running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

Hiya! We’re a group of student midwives in Cardiff, UK and we’ve committed to each running 2k a day in January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today. We will be running together at times and individually when that’s not possible!

As part of our midwifery training and careers, we care for many special families who have experienced pregnancy and baby loss. It is an exceptionally challenging but very special part of being midwife.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
