A Winter Walk to Remember
Yesterday’s winter walk was nothing short of amazing. Despite the cold, tired legs, and long distance, we powered through and completed 12.25km — and every single step felt worth it.
There was something really special about walking through the Christmas markets, surrounded by festive lights, music, and the gentle buzz of people enjoying the season. It brought moments of joy and lightness to a walk that also carried so much meaning. That balance — celebration alongside reflection — made the experience even more powerful.
We didn’t rush. We kept going. When it felt tough, we reminded ourselves why we were walking in the first place, and that gave us the strength to push on. Finishing the walk felt like a real achievement — not just physically, but emotionally too.
With only 10 days left of the challenge, this walk has given us a huge boost of motivation. We’re tired, yes — but we’re also proud, grateful, and more determined than ever to keep going.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, whether through donations, messages, or encouragement along the way. Your kindness truly helps carry us forward.
Here’s to strong legs, full hearts, and making the most of the final 10 days.
The Big Walk
Today is the day — the main walk.
The walk that has been planned with intention, love, and remembrance at its core.
On 20th December, we are walking to raise money for Sands, a charity that supports families affected by baby loss. This walk is deeply personal to us. Every step today carries meaning, because today honours Baby T.
Baby T died at 20 weeks gestation, a milestone that should have been filled with hope and anticipation, not heartbreak. To mark this, we are walking 15 kilometres, chosen carefully and deliberately, representing the time 14:15 — the moment Baby T was delivered. Numbers can hold memory. Distance can hold meaning. And today, our walk holds both.
We are following a Christmas markets walking route, weaving through festive streets filled with lights, music, and celebration. There’s something especially poignant about walking through joy while carrying grief — because this is what life often looks like after loss. The world continues. The decorations still sparkle. People still laugh. And yet, there is a quiet ache that walks alongside you.
This walk is not just about distance or endurance. It’s about remembrance. It’s about love that doesn’t disappear. It’s about saying Baby T mattered — and still matters.
Sands exists to ensure that families experiencing the unimaginable are not left alone in their darkest moments. The support they offer — whether through counselling, resources, or simply understanding — is life-changing. Walking today is our way of giving back, of turning grief into something that reaches outward to help others.
Today may be cold. Our legs may ache. Emotions may rise when we least expect them to. But every step is taken with purpose, with love, and with Baby T in our hearts.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our story, or supported us along the way. Your kindness carries us forward — kilometre by kilometre.
Today is The Big Walk.
Today, we walk for Baby T.
And today, we walk so that no family has to face loss alone.
We're taking on the Winter Walk and walking 50K in December for families facing baby loss
We’ve committed to take on Winter Walk and are walking 50k in December for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.
