I’m running 50k in April for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 50k in April for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

50k in a day

Friday 4th Apr
50k in a Day Wednesday 2nd of April Jess and myself got up and ready to leave Canterbury for 7am. We ran along the crab and winkle line seeing the sun come up over the cathedral to whitstable through to herne bay and then the halfway point Reculver! This was our 25k mark and rest point we stopped for a food fuel good stretch and coffee and then it was the return journey. As we got ready to start off again Jess’ Watch flashed and died! She was close to tears ! But we still had my watch. The whole way along the coast which we thought would be the easiest part we battled winds against us which was a lot harder than expected, the sun was shining but the wind was strong! Then at the 40k point my watch flashed up it was also about to die so we made the choice to end the workout at 40k to make sure it saved. We carried on for the last stretch and if I’m honest it was hard without watching the km go down we knew the route back but that extra little boost of knowing the distance left was gutting. The last 10k was painful Jess with her knee and ankle and my hips, it was more of a shuffle in silence but there was no way we had come this far not to complete it ! Both in slight pain but very proud we arrived home to enjoy a long hot bubble bath and a Large pizza !
