I’m walking 100K in memory of Charlotte Thompson
After years of infertility, i finally became pregnant in September 2024. We were absolutely over the moon. We had a lot going on as at the end of October we would be getting married!
We had tried to be as organised as we could, buying things that we thought we might need and my husband even decorated the baby's room.
We had went on a weekend away from 17-19th January 2025 and I had noticed that I seemed to be experiencing a bit of incontinence. It wasn't anything that I couldn't handle so we simply enjoyed our weekend together.
I went to work on Monday 20th and realised that I could not stop the liquid from pouring out. I had to go home to change my leggings. I was that worried about it that my mum drove me to the hospital.
We sat waiting for a while and I chatted with the midwife. She wanted to do some tests and a scan. She was able to tell me that my waters had broken. I could see by the look on her face that there was nothing anyone could do.
I was moved up into a room in the hospital where I had to stay overnight to be monitored. We were told that there was a possibility that my body could create more waters for the baby to stay in but there was a very slim chance.
On Tuesday 21st January 2025 at 10:59am our baby was born at 19 weeks and 5 days.
We were both absolutely devastated. This was our first pregnancy after waiting for so long and the baby was cruelly taken away from us.
I wanted to do this fundraiser to keep the memory of our baby alive.
