I’m running 50k in April for families facing baby loss
Sands provides vital bereavement support, raises awareness, and funds research to improve maternity care. Their mission is to reduce baby loss and ensure no one faces grief alone.
In recent months, I’ve experienced firsthand just how important that support network is. The love and kindness from friends, family, and colleagues carried me through an incredibly difficult time.
Whilst nothing can change our loss, I can control how I navigate moving forward. To me, this isn’t not just a challenge, it’s an escapism, a focus and a way to try find hope and create a positive in the midst of sadness. I hope that by raising awareness, opening up conversations and of course raising funds, I can help ensure that anyone facing this heartbreak, has the right support around them.
Oh, and did I mention? I cannot run. I’ve done zero training, and my last (and possibly only) 5K was during lockdown—so this will be interesting!
