I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run
I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run this Baby Loss Awareness Week 9-15 October.
Support me as I take on 5, 10 or 15km in support of Sands, helping them to continue to build a world where more babies survive and more families receive the happy ending they deserve.
Ribbon Run is a sponsored run, walk or jog where thousands of people come together to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. It’s free to sign up and it’s up to you how you take part. You can run it, walk it, push it, or jog it; alone or with friends and family.
By sponsoring me, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.
£3 - could provide a Sands birth certificate for a baby whose birth cannot be registered through a register office.
£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.
£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.
£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

Freya’s Story…
Wednesday 25th SepFreya’s story...
When we find out our IVF transfer had worked and the embryo we had put back in had stuck, and we were officially pregnant we couldn’t believe it. We were beyond excited in fact so many people were so happy and excited for us after our long journey with fertility treatment. Watching her grow during each scan was incredible— she was such a wiggly shy baby, we had so many scans but we didn’t mind at all; it just meant more chances to see her.
In June, we had a gender reveal and learned we were having a baby girl. Suddenly, it was all about when Freya would arrive. We were wrapped in our baby bubble and couldn’t wait to be parents and be excited for our first Christmas as a family of four!
However, in July, things took a heartbreaking turn. I started to get bad pelvic pressure and I was struggling to walk and shortly after a trip to see the midwife I began bleeding and was advised to go up to MAU. After lots of observations we were told I was dilated and my sac was visible. I wouldn’t be going home for the foreseeable and to prepare for her arrival.
After a battle of trying to keep her safe in my tummy being bed bound in hospital, At just 22 weeks Freya made her arrival into the world sleeping. Despite everything Glan Clwyd tried to do for us it was just too late, she was gone and our world was shattered.
We were ever so grateful for the time we had with her in the cuddle cot creating precious memories that we could hold onto forever. She weighed 475g, had the longest legs and the cutest button nose we’d ever seen. Every midwife would coo over her when they came to look after us and so many told us how beautiful she was. She was the definition of PERFECT.
Weeks earlier I messaged Rhys and told him I thought my waters had gone while in work and I phoned the EPU for advice in which I was told it’s normal to have watery discharge in pregnancy and not too worry (of course I believed them as a first time mum, they were the professionals ofc) I just carried on through it but had I been diagnosed earlier, they may of been able to intervene, it might have given her a better chance of survival.
My biggest piece of advice to anyone who is pregnant is to advocate for yourself. Trust your motherly instincts. You know your body better than anyone else, and if something feels off, don’t hesitate to push for answers. I really wish I had gone to hospital to be checked over and done the same.
It’s been almost 2 months since we lost Freya, and while we’re slowly learning to cope with our grief, the pain will stay with us for eternity. Some days are a lot harder to navigate through than others.
Despite all the pain, heartache and emotions we are feeling we are both committed to keeping Freya’s memory alive and will continue to fundraise for the amazing charities that have helped us through our difficult time.
On the 12th October we will be doing a charity walk for SANDS in memory of Freya which will start at Prestatyn and completing it at the boot and ship in Bagillt which will take us approximately 5 hours. So far we have raised over £400 for SANDS and will continue to raise more in her honour. Charities like these are so important and must always be supported.
We would be ever so grateful if you could make a donation to our chosen charity so that they can help support a grieving family like ourselves, and provide long lasting memories and memory boxes of their babies. I know personally just how much our little keepsake memory box means and how much it meant to leave the hospital with memories of her and not empty arms.
Freya Rose was born silent into this world but her little life has spoken volumes🪽✨🌈❤️🩹
