I’m running 114km in May for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to running 114km in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
I had initially committed to doing 31 miles or 50km in May but I wanted to do a bit more, something that was more memorable but still achievable for my legs! I am now running 114 km which is just shy of 71 miles. The 114 is the memorable number and the reason behind this fundraising effort. We lost our baby Grace at 114 days gestation and I wanted to run a km in celebration and remembrance of every day she brought happiness to our lives and in the hope that raising money for this charity would bring some comfort to those who have experienced loss through their memory box which meant so much to us.
As Christians, Morgan and I share King David's faithful hope that he expressed in scripture (2nd Samuel 12v 22-23) after the death of his son - that he would see his child in eternity. We truly cling to that hope but grief and pain are real experiences that we are also working through even with that hope. It hurts, a lot, even two years later but having a memory box from a charity like Sands did really help us in our grieving process. Having little items to remember Grace by and the foot and hand impressions in clay that were taken from her gave us something tangible to hold on to.
Any small amount that you are able to donate would not only encourage me in my endeavour but will also help to provide those memory boxes to families that really need them.
