I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Story

Friday 14th Feb
I was lucky enough to have an easy, straightforward pregnancy in 2018/2019 and gave birth to my beautiful daughter Aimee. After watching her blossom we decided to grow our family, expecting it to be just as simple second time round, but it wasn't. In August 2022 I experienced my first miscarriage at 12 weeks. We had already began telling people, started planning, and even moved into a bigger house to accommodate our expanding family. I was heartbroken but thankfully recieved plenty of support from friends, family, and from Sands. I took the miscarriage very hard mentally and decided I needed to wait until after the baby's due date to try again. We celebrated baby's due date by having a special day out, a day I'll always remember. I suffered another miscarriage in June 2023. I couldn't understand why this had happened for a second time and felt lost, but also determined that I wouldn't allow this loss to affect my mental health as much as the first and that I would keep going until I had my 2nd baby. William was born in April 2024 and his smile lights my heart.

I still think about my lost babies everyday, what they would be doing now, what they would look like, who they would have become, and I want to help raise money to stop other mothers from having to wonder these things. Every mum deserves to hold, cherish, and love her baby, no one should have to suffer through the cruelty of baby loss.
