I’m walking 100km in March for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100km in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Story

Sunday 11th Feb
Hi, my story is sadly too familiar.  Everything was going fine in my pregnancy until week 28 when the baby stopped moving. A scan showed no heartbeat and then the discussions turned to how the baby was going to delivered and what was going to happen after.
Shane weighed 21b and it turned out I had pre eclampsia which was the cause of him passing away. I was put at risk ( fitting) and we then had to plan his funeral.
I'm very lucky to survive my second and third pregnancies and am the proud parent of two 6ft tall lads in their 20s. I had pre eclampsia with both boys and this condition is still so dangerous.
Although I didn't feel I needed SANDS on a daily basis, the support of people who can understand and help when days are rough is invaluable.  To help raise funds for a family counselling session ,or a bereavement box  is very worthwhile.  While unfortunately there will be premature baby loss, as parents we know there is a group for us and we can always reach out .
