I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run this Baby Loss Awareness Week 9-15 October.

Support me as I take on 5, 10 or 15km in support of Sands, helping them to continue to build a world where more babies survive and more families receive the happy ending they deserve.

Ribbon Run is a sponsored run, walk or jog where thousands of people come together to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. It’s free to sign up and it’s up to you how you take part. You can run it, walk it, push it, or jog it; alone or with friends and family.

By sponsoring me, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.

£3 - could provide a Sands birth certificate for a baby whose birth cannot be registered through a register office.

£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

The Power of Connection: Raising Awareness for Mental Health and Baby Loss

Tuesday 1st Oct
This past month has been an emotional whirlwind for me as I completed a fundraiser for SANDS in honour of my precious babies. Though difficult, it was a vital part of my healing process—both to honour their memory and raise awareness for the often hidden grief of baby loss.
As I move forward into October, I find myself at the starting line again, this time for Ribbon Run and Rethink Mental Health—a charity dedicated to supporting people with mental health challenges and breaking the stigma around it. I knew in my heart that I couldn’t just stop there.
These two causes are not just significant on their own but are deeply interconnected. The emotional toll of baby loss is immense, and for many, it’s a grief that can extend well beyond the immediate loss. It often leads to long-term mental health struggles such as depression, anxiety, and even post-traumatic stress disorder. Yet, this connection between baby loss and mental health is rarely discussed, leaving many families to struggle in silence.
That’s why I couldn’t just pick one cause to support. I knew that both SANDS and Rethink Mental Illness deserved attention, and not just for a fleeting moment, but for the lasting impact they can have on individuals and families. By participating in both fundraisers, I hope to shed light on how intricately linked these issues are. Supporting families through their grief and offering mental health resources can help create a better, more understanding world for those who have suffered in silence for far too long.
Every step I take in these fundraisers is a step towards breaking that silence. It’s a step towards compassion, towards understanding, and towards creating a world where no one feels like they’re walking this difficult path alone. The support I’ve received so far has been overwhelming, and I’m so grateful for everyone who has walked with me, whether physically or in spirit.

So as I lace up my shoes for the Ribbon Run and continue my efforts for Rethink Mental Illness, I carry with me the hope that together, we can make a real difference. Let’s raise awareness, let’s offer support, and most importantly, let’s break the silence—for our babies, for our mental health, and for our future.

Finding Strength in September: Why I’m Joining the Ribbon Run 🎀

Friday 27th Sep
This September has been a season of healing and growth for my soul. With the support of so many wonderful people, I've found the strength to move forward in ways I never thought possible. Together, we’ve managed to accomplish more than I could have ever imagined, and it has been a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we lift each other up in the face of unimaginable loss.

This journey has inspired me to take a step further and join the Ribbon Run 🎀. This cause holds a special place in my heart, as it supports families like mine, who have experienced the heart-wrenching grief of losing a baby. It’s a pain that changes you forever—one that leaves you feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Yet, through the love and solidarity of others, I’ve learned that healing, while slow, is possible. No one should have to walk through this heartbreak alone, and I want to be there for those who are just beginning their journey, just as others have been there for me.

The Ribbon Run is more than just an event; it’s a symbol of hope and a collective promise to ensure no one faces this kind of loss in isolation. By raising awareness and funds, we can continue to offer support to grieving families, helping them find the strength to carry on, one day at a time.

For me, this run is not just a race. It’s a way to honor the memory of my babies, to carry their light with me as I move forward. It’s also an opportunity to contribute to a cause that offers compassion and understanding in moments of unimaginable pain.

I’m taking this journey one step at a time, doing my best every day to contribute to a future where no one has to go through the heartbreak of losing a child without a supportive community by their side. I’m running for my family, for all the families who have suffered in silence, and for a future filled with more understanding, support, and love.

If you feel called to join me on this journey, I encourage you to learn more about the Ribbon Run and the important work they do. Every step we take together brings us closer to a world where no one has to walk through grief alone.

Let’s keep running, let’s keep hoping, and let’s keep supporting one another.

With love,
Andreea 🩷🎀
