North Down SANDS Ribbon Run
I’m organising a SANDS Ribbon Run on Saturday 12 October as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week and would love you to join me for a run, a walk, or a post run coffee, traybake and chat in memory of our little boy Leo who we lost in December 2018, and all other babies who didn't get to stay.
SANDS were there for us when we needed them most with booklets of information providing answers to questions we hadn't even thought of, by training our bereavement midwife to support and guide us in the best way possible, by providing equipment so that we could take Leo's hand and footprints and by providing a memory box which we treasure and will continue to treasure for as long as we live. SANDS also run support groups and a beautiful Christmas service which we have attended each year.
I would be so grateful if you could join me and/or donate whatever you feel able to give to raise awareness of baby loss and to help SANDS break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.
Where? Crawfordsburn Country Park, BT19 1JT - meet by the visitors' centre for the walk / run. We will then gather on the grass / beach after (from 10am ish) for some sweet treats and chats.
What? A 5km run - we will join the Parkrun which sets off just after an intro at 9.30 and which is signposted throughout the park
When? Saturday 12 October - meet at 9.15 for a 9.30 start
You can register on the SANDS website for a free t-shirt. Alternatively please wear pink or blue (or both).

£3 - could provide a Sands birth certificate for a baby whose birth cannot be registered through a register office.
£10 - could provide a bereaved family with a support pack and resources when they need it the most
£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories
£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby
£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.
