I’m running 50k in April for families facing baby loss

Sadly way too many people are affected by baby loss and we are part of that percentage. 50k in one month might not sound a lot but I am looking to do this for me, to force me back out, enjoy the spring, to do something positive and to try and get my fitness back on track post pregnancy (and Tom will be joining me when he can). The biggest thing about baby loss is people think you move on, you never move on you just try to move forward best you can. I only carried Charlie for 4 months but they’ll be with me, Tom and Poppy and part of our family forever. The gut wrenching loss of TFMR, how it happened, why it’s happened and being part of a statistic you never thought in your wildest dreams you’d be part is crippling. The memory of Poppy touching my tummy and saying baby will forever be both happy and devastating. If through doing this we show one person they’re not alone it’s worth it. Baby loss is an awful reality that faces so many and the societal awkwardness of not acknowledging it makes it even worse. So if you’re reading this and you know someone going through baby loss and don’t know what to do or say - it absolutely is the right thing to reach out, acknowledge their baby and just how awful and unfair it is. It’s okay to not know what to say, but just showing you care, saying you’re thinking of them is enough. Last Sunday the 23rd March would have been Charlie’s due date, and it’s a date that we will always remember and try to celebrate in our own way. So Charlie, this is for you and time to get a spring back in our step!

I’ve committed to running 50k in April for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
