Run 30K in September

I’m running 30K in September for families facing baby loss

Everyone who knows me will be shocked by me signing up for this running challenge. A runner I am not! But as many of you know, Ian and I have suffered miscarriages during our journey to having a family. I will always think of my babies and the lives they might have lived. We have a number of friends who have experienced baby loss during pregnancy and shortly after birth. Nobody ever expects to be in this group; those who have experienced baby loss, and there is nothing that can prepare you for it.
I decided recently that I needed to do something to mark my own losses and those of our friends. And I wanted to do something to benefit my own health and to raise awareness of baby loss and of this wonderful charity, SANDS. So here goes!!
I will keep the page updated with my progress.
If you can donate a quid or 2, that would be amazing. But please do not feel obliged. I would love it if you checked in on a friend who has experienced baby loss (even if it was many years ago), checked out the advice on SANDS website for friends or employers of those going through baby loss, or just paused for a moment to remember those who have gone through it or when you next hear about a friend miscarrying a pregnancy or losing their baby at birth or shortly after, that you look at the SANDS website for advice on how to show your support.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

THANK YOU

Tuesday 1st Oct
Thank you to all my amazing friends & family. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me; you are so generous and kind. Thankyou to everyone who has chatted to me over the last 4 weeks. So many conversations have opened up & I’m truly honoured to have chatted with you all. Here’s to all those who are navigating the journey, sending all our love & strength to you all today & always.

Day 30

Tuesday 1st Oct
Such a strange feeling & I was quite emotional at the end, I will admit. I thought of so many friends, family & their babies as I ran. The last run of the challenge is complete. Over & out 🏃‍♀️👟❤️

Day 29

Sunday 29th Sep
2K completed yesterday and 1km today. That leaves me with only 1.5 to run tomorrow on the 30th September. My final run!!!! 😮

Day 27

Friday 27th Sep
1.5km run this morning 👍🏃‍♀️
Only got 4.5 left to complete in the final 3 days!!

Day 26

Friday 27th Sep
1km run today! In the rain!

Day 25

Wednesday 25th Sep
1.5km run at 6:30am before work!!

Fitness tracker isn’t accurate

Tuesday 24th Sep
Ok so the fitness tracker on my page isn’t accurate. And you know I am one for detail. Some of my runs have been 1.5km and for some reason when I type this into the tracker, it rounds up to 2km.  I’ve got a paper chart in the kitchen that Sands sent to me when I registered for this challenge. So I’ve been using that. If the total km on the tracker on my page doesn’t quite tally with the total I’m saying I’ve run, please ignore it!! I promise I am tracking my distance really carefully.

Day 24

Tuesday 24th Sep
I’m sorry! I’ve been useless at updating my runs on here. I am now on day 24 and I’ve clocked at total of 22km so far! I have 8km left to run and I’ve got 6 days left to complete it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH to all my sponsors & supporters so far. You are all amazing. And to those who have shared their baby loss journeys with me; I am honoured to learn about your babies and the difficult times you have been through.

Day 15

Sunday 15th Sep
A little pause to my schedule in the last few days but I will be back running tomorrow!! 🏃‍♀️

Day 11

Wednesday 11th Sep
Another early morning run done 👍

Day 9

Monday 9th Sep
1.5km before work this morning.  There’s something about this challenge, I can’t put into words, but it’s really motivated me & inspired me. Well, to be running is one thing but before work at 6:30am; well that’s a whole other ball game!!!

Day 8

Sunday 8th Sep
Another 1.6km this morning, in the drizzly rain. Who am I? Running, and running in the rain???

Day 7

Saturday 7th Sep
Another 1.6k completed. This time I ran mid morning so plenty of people about - I must be feeling brave!!

Day 5

Thursday 5th Sep
1.6k done before breakfast this morning. Todays run is dedicated to a beautiful baby girl & her family, xx

Day 4

Wednesday 4th Sep
Didn’t run on day 3 so I’ve gone further today!! Yes, you read that correctly. I ran 1.5k today. It has confirmed to me that I am not a runner!! But I weirdly enjoyed it!!

Day 2

Monday 2nd Sep
And that’s my second 1K completed! A nice little 6am run for me - who’d have ever thought I’d run, but first thing in the morning before work!!!! Erm what????

Day1

Sunday 1st Sep
First 1K done!

You are an advocate for SANDS! I’m so proud of you having the strength, determination and dedication to do something you’ve never done before to raise vital awareness. I have an 13 month older brother but my mum lost a baby after I was born who would have been 14 months younger than me but sadly she suffered a miscarriage. A long time ago but never forgotten ❤️🥰
