In July 2022 we were told the devastating news that our baby had no heartbeat at 11 weeks.
On 15th April 2024 our precious boy, Alfie was born too soon at 20+2 weeks.
1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss.
Behind each of these statistics is a family absolutely devastated trying to navigate a nightmare.
We never ever imagined we would be part of this statistic twice.
Sands works to save babies' lives and ensure that, when a baby does die, anyone affected gets the support and care they need. By taking part in Ribbon Run this year, the money you raise will allow us to continue to fund life saving research. We will be able to continue to run our Sands Support Services which include the Sands Helpline and our Sands support groups across the UK. Because of you we can continue our mission to be there for anyone affected by baby loss.
We are aiming to jog/walk (walk mainly!) 15km in Alfie’s memory as his birthday is the 15th, to raise awareness around baby loss and to get people talking 🗣️❤️
The Ribbon Run takes place on 12th October 2024. We are in the process of working out a route, but will be local to us.

Support us as we take on 15km in support of Sands, helping them to continue to build a world where more babies survive and more families receive the happy ending they deserve.
Ribbon Run is a sponsored run, walk or jog where thousands of people come together to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. It’s free to sign up and it’s up to you how you take part. You can run it, walk it, push it, or jog it; alone or with friends and family.
By sponsoring us, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.
£3 - could provide a Sands birth certificate for a baby whose birth cannot be registered through a register office.
£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.
£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.
£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.
